Course Requirements

To achieve a Certificate I in Business a totoal of Six (6) units of competency must be completed. This comprises of One (1) core unit of competency plus Five (5) elective units of competency as detailed in the training package rules.

    Course Fees for NT Residents

    Students will be liable to pay the VET Tuition fee of:
    $2.00 per nominal hour for enrolment
    $0.00 per nominal hour for RPL

    Students may be eligible to apply for a fee exemption
    Students are not eligible for a VET FEE-HELP loan


    Course Fees for Insterstate Students

    Students will be liable to pay the VET Full fees.
    This amount is determined by the band rate the specific course belongs to. See Batchelor Institute website for more information

    Contribute to health and safety of self and others

    Code - BSBWHS201 Contact Hours - 20
    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work in a manner that is healthy and safe in relation to self and others and to respond to emergency incidents. It covers following work health and safety (WHS) and emergency procedures and instructions, implementing WHS requirements and participating in WHS consultative processes. It applies to individuals who require a basic knowledge of WHS to carry out work in a defined context under direct supervision or with some individual responsibility, in a range of industry and workplace contexts.

    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work effectively in a business environment. It includes identifying and working to organisational standards, managing workload, and working as part of a team. It applies to individuals developing basic skills and knowledge in preparation for working in a broad range of settings.

    Develop keyboard skills

    Code - BSBITU102 Contact Hours - 40
    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop basic keyboard skills using touch typing techniques in a broad range of settings. It applies to individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks and generally work under direct supervision using limited practical skills and fundamental knowledge.

    Operate a personal computer

    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to start up and use a range of basic functions on a personal computer or business computer terminal. It applies to individuals who perform a range of routine computer tasks in the various sectors of the business services industry and generally work under direct supervision.

    Apply basic communication skills

    Code - BSBCMM101 Contact Hours - 40
    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop basic communication skills in the workplace in particular gathering, conveying and receiving information together with completing assigned written information. It applies to individuals working under direct supervision who are developing basic skills and knowledge of workplace communication in preparation for working in a broad range of settings

    Use business equipment and resources

    Code - BSBADM101 Contact Hours - 15
    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to choose equipment and resources to complete a variety of tasks under direct supervision. It applies to individuals looking to develop the basic skills and knowledge required to use a variety of business equipment.
